International Black DocuFest Continues Today 9/18 and Tomorrow 9/19

So I was able to pop over to Hammonds House yesterday evening for the opening night of the International Black DocuFest. Although it was dark and rainy outside, a bit unorganized inside, and prone to technical snafus, spirits were high and amicable. I was only able to see one documentary from beginning to end and that was photographer Shannon McCollum’s short on the rap group Dead Prez whom Shannon has been documenting in photographs since 2004. Shannon announced he had only recently started documenting the group with video and had just finished his film that morning. His film had provocative imagery which will bode well for his continued foray into film making.

The International Black DocuFest continues tonight, 6p-10 p, and Saturday, 12p- 10 p, at the High Museum of Art in the Hill Auditorium. Admission to the festival is free.
