Screening at Eyedrum Tonight @ 8

Here are the details:

Opening with a screening of Grounded By Reality, a documentary short by Atlanta’s own SHED Collective, Jessica E. Blinkhorn makes her Eyedrum performance debut.

Award winning and International Documentary Challenge finalist, Grounded by Reality portrays Jessica's struggle with her condition but not a lack of will or creativity. She's an outspoken, hard rolling, practicing artist, private instructor and graduate of Kennesaw and ...Georgia State Universities.

Grounded by Reality filmmakers say, "Jessica challenges people to really look at her—she decorates her body with tattoos and draws self-portraits with unflinching honesty. We wanted to give the audience access to Jessica’s daily physical challenges so you can see how much determination and drive she has as a person and an artist."

After the film, the writing on the wall will serve as an introduction to Jessica E. Blinkhorn's performance work at Eyedrum. 'As it is Written' in the small gallery provides a glimpse into her world with free association, stream of consciousness thought marking. The forms made with white chalk on black walls are noticeably married to the machinery of her wheelchair. Viewers are welcome to join her in person in the small gallery or watch via video feed.

Jessica E. Blinkhorn begins her 30 minute writing performance with “My name is Jessica and I was born imperfect”...

A reception and encore screening for the artist to follow.

Also on view at Eyedrum, The Chalk Off in the main and back galleries.
