ATL Flick Chick’s Ten Best Films of 2010

This year, 248 feature films are qualified to be considered for an Oscar nomination.  I have seen 32 of them so far.  There are still about 16 films I want to see.  If only I could get paid a living wage to watch movies and blog about it.  ::Le sigh::  Anyway, the below list is my top 10 of the 2010 films I've seen to date.  Please feel free to leave comments about the top films you have enjoyed this year.
  1. A Prophet--Technically this French prison drama came out in 2009 and was nominated for a 2009 Best Foreign Film Award.  But because it did not make it to Atlanta theaters until 2010, it’s on my 2010 list. So there.
  2. Waiting for Superman--Poignant and timely reflection on America’s failing school system.
  3. The Social Network--Geeky goodness.
  4. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and sequels--This item is actually three films, but if you watch the Swedish trilogy back-to-back you’ll have ONE hell of a good time.
  5. Inception--A dream within a dream within a dream...
  6. The Kids are All Right--Family dynamics have no sexual orientation.
  7. Babies--Let cuteness reign.
  8. The Town--Beantown bank heists and shenanigans.
  9. The Fighter--Punched up with powerful performances.
  10. Splice--Cloning yourself with animals is just wrong.

Honorable Mentions: Unstoppable (Good old popcorn fun); Cyrus (creepy Jonah Hill fun); and Catfish (real or fake? fun)

Movies getting Oscar and/or critical buzz that I haven't seen but want to see: True Grit, Night Catches Us, Black Swan, Blue Valentine, Exit through the Gift Shop
